Parent’s Role

Parents have the prime responsibility of educating their children. They are expected to devote their time towards the formation of a sound character in their children. Hence, they should cooperate with the school authorities in imparting knowledge and in the formation of character. The following are the guidelines for the parents to achieve this aim.

1. Parents are first teachers to their children. So show them how exciting and meaningful a school life can be if they give out their best. Inspire them to learn in and out of school with friendly reminders and guidance.
2. Make sure you provide your child with a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere at home. It is good to avoid discussing family issues in your child’s presence and give her/him adequate moral support.
3. If you notice that your child is not performing well or giving less importance to studies, correct them at the beginning itself. Make them understand what is right and wrong rather than simply blaming them.
4. Attend the parent-teacher meetings and interaction sessions on time. Learn from them about the child’s activities in school and make sure to correct the child if something is wrong. Maintaining parent-teacher relationships also shows your interest in your child’s matters which gives them a good feeling.
5. Please check the school diaries of the children daily and ensure that instructions are followed.
6. It is a fact that working parents would be busy with their tight schedules. However, set aside some time for your child and don’t leave them lonely at home. Eat together and play with them in their free time.
7. Monitor their learning: Some children will take up initiative themselves to spend time learning at home. However, it is not the case for all, and parents must monitor their learning at home and give friendly bits of advice. Have a check on their leisure time if they are lacking in performance. Make sure that they are prepared for school each day.
8. Students life is an important phase of a child and parents should give enough importance to it when deciding on other matters. Make it a priority and avoid unnecessary trips or functions that can affect their study schedule. Don’t encourage them to take leave unnecessarily from school for silly matters and make them understand the importance of daily class attendance.
9. Teach your child respect for others and common courtesy, and expecting them to demonstrate these qualities at home and in all public places.
