The Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross was founded by Claudine Echernier in 1838 at Chavanod- a little village of Savoy in the South East of France. Claudine Echernier was a woman of deep faith, self sacrificing love, integrity of character, hard work, patient, and endurance, generous and forgiving spirit, committed to the cause of God’s Kingdom.

    Having experienced the Love of God in her life, she longed to “Make the Good God known and Loved”. With this aim, she devoted her time to eradicating ignorance and misery among children, youth, and women.
